Taylor
Taylor Swift is that rarest of pop stars: a superstar who managed to seamlessly transition from the traditional to making her an iconic popular icon, and sweeping the globe in the process. Swift left country music like it was another layer, showing that she is perhaps the smartest pop-singer/songwriter her generation. Someone who is able to harness the zeitgeist to make it personal, and sing in the other direction. Her early songs like the Neotribute to Tim McGraw were a testament to her talent. But, her follow-up album Fearless from 2008 showed the songwriter finding her voice as well as a broader audience. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just within the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and the hit single You Belong with Me but throughout the world performing particularly well with the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift's Speak Now album released two years ago consolidated her previous popularity and launched Swift into the spotlight. The three subsequent albums -- Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 along with Reputation 2017. her fame only grew. It was a clear indication that she was in a new pop world where she fit in. Her popularity grew even after she reformulated her approach with 2020's pared-down siblings Folklore (and Evermore) and stayed in the forefront of pop culture.
