
Julie London (nee Peck; September 26 1926 - October 18 1999) was an American singer and actress who toured for more than 40 years. London was a torch performer and was well-known for her soft, smooth voice. She recorded more than 30 albums of pop and jazz standards between 1955 and 1969. Inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2001 was her performance of "Cry Me a River" the track she had introduced to her debut album. London was nominated in 1974 for the Golden Globe Award as a actor for her role in Emergency! of Dixie McCall. London was born in Santa Rosa, California to vaudevillian parents. Her acting career in Los Angeles as an actress. London's 35 year acting career began in the film industry in 1944. It included roles as the female lead role in numerous westerns. She signed a recording deal with Liberty Records in the mid-1950s. This marked the beginning of her professional career as a musician. In 1969 she released her last studio album. But, she continued to be part of the emergency series in the role of Dixie McCall, a female nurse. (1972-1979), she was with her husband Bobby Troup. The show was directed by her former husband Jack Webb.
